Fluid selection for the thermal management of immersed large format cylindrical cells

The performance of a dielectric thermal management fluid in an immersed battery pack is dependent on several factors.

 

Working with an electric vehicle manufacturer we have developed simulation model and a dedicated experimental rig to accurately assess fluid performance and guide fluid selection.

 

The rig uses heated representative cells, which provide accurate and repeatable heat generation, to investigate a wide range of operating temperatures, pump efficiency and assess the impact of contaminants.
