The Audi F1 Project

Using our lubrication knowledge and motorsport experience to help Audi prepare for the 2026 F1 season.

Driving innovation at the pinnacle of motorsport

At Castrol, we have a rich and successful heritage of motorsport partnerships, particularly with Audi. Castrol products have been used to win in every Audi motorsport program. From the World Rally Championship with the Audi Quattro, FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), 24 Hours of Le Mans, and DTM race series – to name just a few. Our partnership has delivered some historic wins.

In 2024, we expanded this legacy, with Castrol becoming the first official partner of the Audi's F1 Project. This partnership is dedicated to pioneering an outstanding level of performance – with Castrol EDGE as the driving force to the team's success. Combining our expertise and vision, to develop advanced fuels and lubricants that meet the sport's evolving demands.

F1 is evolving

The 2026 season sees the introduction of groundbreaking new FIA F1 Technical Regulations that feature advanced electrification and the use of advanced sustainable fuels. While the Fl power unit is already the most advanced hybrid powertrain in the world, the new regulations will increase the contribution of the electric component from 15% to 50%, creating an impressive equal split between electrification and combustion.

The Audi F1 Project is set to race in the 2026 season.

The 2026 F1 regulations are a significant step forward on the road to technological innovation, not least in the field of fuel and lubricants. The Audi F1 Project is synonymous with innovation, as we stand for 'Vorsprung durch Technik, and our partnership with bp and Castrol is a perfect match for our aspiration to be at the forefront of the race for performance. Audi and Castrol have a long and successful history in motorsport together: we are excited about the new chapter we are about to open alongside each other and about the opportunities this partnership will bring.Mattia BinottoHead of the Audi F1 Project
