For use in equipment where there is a difference in pressure between the internal process and the atmosphere – such as axial gas compressors – seal oils are normally thin, have good thermal stability and are free from solid, anti-wear or EP additives.
Viscosity is critical and OEM guidance is required.

Transcal LT is a low temperature mineral heat transfer fluid. It combines low vapor pressure, and high levels of thermal stability, specific heat and thermal conductivity with exceptional low temperature fluidity. Recommended for non-pressurized closed liquid phase heating systems that incorporate heating and cooling branches.
This high quality mineral oil has low vapor-pressure characteristics and high levels of thermal stability, specific heat and thermal conductivity. Recommended for non-pressurized, closed liquid-phase heating systems operating at bulk-fluid temperatures up to 320ºC, maximum film temperature of 340ºC. Widely used where waste heat is extracted from flue gases.
A primary choice for seal oil systems used offshore, the Hyspin Oil range is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors. It is formulated to lubricate all types of spindle bearings, including high speed spindle bearings.
Castrol Magna are high quality additive-free oils with good oxidation resistance and demulsification properties. They suit a variety of applications including lubricating bearings and spindles. Heavier viscosity grades suit moderately loaded gearboxes. Also suitable for use in vacuum pumps and hydraulic systems which require an ‘ISO HH’ fluid type.
Hyspin VG 22 is a low viscosity mineral oil intended for use in oil film barrier seals on rotating equipment such as gas compressors and main oil line pumps. Its excellent low temperature properties and high temperature stability suit a wide range of conditions and extend seal life.
Perfecto MSO ASA III acts as an oil film barrier seals on rotating equipment and gas compressor applications. Improved electrical conductivity reduces the risks associated with static electricity discharges in process gas equipment, particularly where inert gas blanketing of oil reservoirs is not available.
