Questions and answers to common queries about the Castrol Engine Warranty

What does the warranty cover?
The Castrol Engine Warranty programme covers your engine from oil related mechanical failure.

Castrol Engine Warranty provides coverage for engine parts listed below.
  • Pistons and Rings
  • Turbo Bearings
  • Timing Chains
  • Cylinder Lining or Bore
  • Oil Pump
  • Rods and Rod Bearings
  • Balance Shafts & Push Rods
  • Cam Shaft & Bearings
  • Crankshaft & Bearings
  • Valve Lifters
  • Rocker Arms and Pivots
  • Distributor Drive Gear (not applicable for diesel cars)
  • Wrist Pins & Bushings
  • Timing Gear or Sprockets
  • Valve Stems & Guides (Grinding adjustments excluded)
What is the warranty period?

If your oil has been changed with Castrol EDGE, MAGNATEC or GTX products:


This warranty lasts for twelve months from the oil change date, or until the car's odometer reading increases by 18,000 miles, whichever is earlier.


This warranty takes effect 30 days or 1,000 miles from the engine oil change date, whichever is later, provided a valid registration is in place. A claim is only valid if all criteria are met, which are outlined in the terms and conditions.

What is the warranty coverage?
Up to £3000 in respect of any claim.

Vehicles with an odometer reading of over 100,000 miles at the date of the oil change only have coverage of 50% of the actual claim, subject to a £1,500 limit.
Does my vehicle qualify?

A petrol or diesel vehicle may be eligible for this warranty if it is a privately owned passenger car or light commercial vehicle; and if:

  • The vehicle has been driven for less than 150,000 miles and the vehicle was less than 12 years old at the time of the oil change;
  • The engine oil was changed with Castrol EDGE, MAGANATEC or GTX products at a Castrol SERVICE workshop.
What do I have to do in order to join the programme?

Have your oil changed using eligible Castrol EDGE, Castrol MAGNATEC or Castrol GTX products at a Castrol SERVICE workshop and complete your registration on this website within seven days.

 

Please keep hold of your invoice as proof of service showing when the oil was changed.

If I have not registered previously, can I make a claim and benefit from the programme?
No, you have to register via the Castrol Engine Warranty website within seven days of the oil change in order to benefit from the programme.
How do I know if I have been successfully registered for Castrol Engine Warranty?
You will receive a confirmation email after successfully completing the online registration.
What do I need to do in order to make a claim?

Please use the claim form on this website to register a claim and a member of the team will contact you.

You will be asked to provide:

  1. proof of your vehicles's service history showing that the oil has been changed at the recommended intervals by the vehicle’s manufacturer
  2. proof of service showing that the oil has been changed at a certified Castrol SERVICE workshop up to 7 days prior to the warranty registration.
What happens to my vehicle once it is in the workshop due to breakdown?

The mechanic in the workshop will assess your car’s engine to determine if this was a reason why it broke down. In some instances it may be necessary for the mechanic will take a sample of the oil to send it away to Castrol for used oil analysis testing to determine if the oil was at fault to cause engine failure.


You will be kept informed either by your mechanic at the Castrol SERVICE workshop, or you will be contacted by a Castrol Hotline representative to talk you through further steps and the results of your claim.
