We take your privacy seriously and would like you to understand our practices with respect to the handling of your personal data. This Privacy Statement explains how we do this.

We use data that identifies you as a representative or contact person of the business you are in. Your business is a customer or prospect customer of Castrol’s. Such data usually includes, but are not limited to, your place of work, name, contact information, and location of your employer. We view your response to the Survey as opinion of your business, rather than a personal opinion of you. We do not process any special (sensitive) categories of personal data.
The initial email and phone number we use to send the Survey is publicly available information that is posted for companies like us to reach out to your business. We then collect your personal data electronically with your consent in order to contact you for business opportunities and sending marketing communications, in your capacity as a representative of your business. The legal basis of our processing is consent.
As an international company, we may store or transfer your personal data to other BP companies around the world. Where this is the case, we do this under a comprehensive, flexible, and global compliance framework which implements appropriate measures and safeguards (including EU standard contractual clauses) to ensure that your personal data is protected in accordance with applicable data protection law. We have the right to disclose your personal data as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, request from a regulator or any other legal process served on BP.
We maintain reasonable physical, electronic, and organizational security measures to protect your information against accidental loss, unlawful destruction or unauthorized disclosure or access. We will only hold your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, before making it non-identifiable or deleting it.

You are afforded all of the rights set out below:

  • Access to your personal data. Where applicable, you are entitled to receive a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction of the personal data that we hold about you. You may request that we correct any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you, though we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us. It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current.
  • Erasure of your personal data. You may request that we delete or remove personal data where there is no overriding reason for us to continue to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal data where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we have processed your personal data unlawfully or where we are required to erase your personal data to comply with our legal obligations.
  • Transfer of certain of your personal data to you or a third party. Where this right applies, we will provide to you, or a third party you have chosen, your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdraw your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide certain products or services to you. We will advise you if this is the case at the time you withdraw your consent.
  • Right to complain to your supervisory authority. We are committed to working with  you to obtain a fair resolution of any complaint about our use of your information. You may make a complaint to our privacy teams (including relevant data protection officers) by using the email below.
