Storing And Transporting Used Oil

castrol_the proper oil

The ROSE Foundation works cooperatively with multiple oil companies including Castrol in order to reduce oil pollution. Castrol believes in doing no harm to people and the environment.

Did you know: 1 litre of used oil can contaminate 1 million litres of water. With South Africa generating an average of 120 million litres of used lubricant oil in a year, proper recycling methods are essential. With the assistance of the ROSE Foundation this is possible.

Here are a few quick steps to follow for the storage of used oil:

  • Drain used oil into a clean container with a tight fitting lid, such as a reusable combination drain pan/storage container.
  • Ensure that you store the oil in a container with a secure lid so that it cannot spill out.
  • Always clearly label the containers “Used Motor Oil.”
  • Remember to keep oil change pans free of water. Oil that is contaminated with water is far more difficult to recycle.

With the help of the ROSE foundation, the collection of used oil is made convenient.
