The partnership between Roush Fenway and Castrol is designed to help the team better manage its greenhouse emissions by tracking, quantifying, and reducing those emissions, and offsetting the balance with high-quality carbon offset projects.
Roush Fenway has achieved carbon neutrality for the entire organization including operations, the two race teams and race cars for the period between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2020, according to the PAS 2060 standard as verified by ERM CVS (independent 3rd party). The Castrol partnership has enabled this process by providing expertise and guidance throughout.
The initiative is part of the ongoing relationship between Roush Fenway Racing and Castrol while also being another step towards supporting its partners in achieving their lower carbon ambitions.
To symbolize its carbon neutral achievement, Roush Fenway and Castrol are unveiling a unique paint scheme for Ryan Newman’s No. 6 Castrol race car at the Daytona Road Course on February 21, 2021. Newman’s traditionally green and red Ford Mustang will feature an all-white paint scheme with a grey Castrol badge and muted logos from its other partners in a show of support for the initiative.
Castrol has also developed a special NASCAR performance formula based on the premium technology found in the leading Castrol® Edge® with Fluid Titanium range, a full synthetic formula designed to unlock maximum performance and withstand the heat and pressure of the Roush Fenway Racing NASCAR engine.
In collaboration with Roush Fenway Racing, Castrol continues to develop formulations for optimum performance, durability, and consistency with the ambition to reduce carbon.
In addition to the Roush Fenway partnership, Castrol has been busy launching the world's first certified carbon neutral lubricants for cars, commercial vehicles and wind turbines as well as working with car workshops to help them make their businesses carbon neutral*.
Developments in this area range from reducing water use, improving health and safety, and making transportation more efficient.
