Castrol: Ownership transition and legal entity name change

Castrol is entering an exciting new chapter, with Stonepeak and bp as investors providing valuable expertise, confidence, and momentum for future growth. As part of this transition, bp is selling a 65% shareholding in Castrol to Stonepeak while retaining a 35% ownership interest. Together, they will build on Castrol's 126-year legacy of brand strength, technical expertise, and global capabilities.

 

Effective July 15, 2026, our legal entity name changed from BP Lubricants USA Inc. to Castrol Lubricants USA Inc.

 

What is changing?

Our legal entity name is now Castrol Lubricants USA Inc., replacing BP Lubricants USA Inc. Business documents and correspondence will roll over starting September 2nd, 2026.

 

What is not changing?

1. Your account team and primary points of contact 

 

2. Your products, service experience, and day-to-day support 

 

3. How you transact with us remains largely unchanged including:

  • Payment terms
  • Bank account information
  • EIN and tax information
  • DUNS number
  • Business address

4. Most importantly, Castrol’s commitment to quality, innovation, and customer support

 

What you need to do?

  • Update your records: Our systems reflect Castrol Lubricants USA Inc. as of September 2, 2026. Ensure your records are updated with our new entity name.
  • Systems / EDI: If additional updates are required within your systems, please contact your Castrol sales representative.
  • W-9: An updated W-9 is available showing both Castrol Lubricants USA Inc. and our former name, BP Lubricants USA Inc. Download W-9
  • TIN checks: If your TIN check does not immediately match IRS records, this is expected while the name change processes with the IRS. No action is needed, and there is no impact to payments, account status, or ongoing business operations.
