  • For the lubrication of gear motors in stirring machines, turners, packaging machines etc.
  • For the lubrication of chain variators, rolling and sliding bearings, pumps and closed circulating systems.
Magna Range

Lubricating Oil

Castrol Magna™ grades are a range of high-quality additive-free oils possessing inherently good resistance to oxidation and good emulsification properties.

  • Highly refined mineral oil makes the product suitable for applications where non-additive oils can be used.
  • Good quality mineral oil enables long service life.
  • Low pour point provides trouble-free operation in cold conditions

  • Castrol Magna lubricating oils are suitable for a variety of applications such as the lubrication of bearings, spindles and, using the heavier viscosity grades, moderately loaded gearboxes.
  • They may also be used in vacuum pumps and hydraulic systems where an "ISO HH" fluid type is required. Magna lubricating oils are available in a range of viscosities from 320 cSt for gear lubrication down to 2 cSt for use on fine-clearance high-speed spindles.
  • The Magna range is fully compatible with nitrile, silicone and fluoropolymer seal materials.
  • Magna is classified as follows:
    • ISO 6743/4 - Type HH
Alpha CLP Range

Industrial Gear Oil Range

The Castrol Alpha™ CLP range fulfils the requirements of DIN 51517-3 for CLP-type gear oils and other key industrial specifications as listed below.

The Alpha CLP range offers good wear protection, safety against scuffing, ageing resistance and high thermal endurance.

In addition, the products behave neutrally towards conventional seals and bearing metals.

  • Meets industry specifications.
  • Good wear protection, safety against scuffing, ageing resistance and high thermal endurance.
  • Good neutrality towards conventional seals and bearing metals.

  • The Castrol Alpha CLP range offers good gear performance for most types of Industrial gear.
  • Alpha CLP is formulated to meet the requirements of the following key Industrial specifications:
    • AGMA 9005-F16 Antiscuff
    • David Brown S1.53.101 E
    • DIN 51517 Part III
    • ISO 12925-1 (CKD) - 2002

Castrol Alpha SP Range

Castrol Alpha SP Range

Gear Oils

The Castrol Alpha™ SP gear oil range of high-quality lubricants is based upon highly refined mineral oil, enhanced with an extreme pressure additive technology providing good thermal stability and high load-carrying capacity.

The extreme pressure additive system not only provides high load-carrying capacity but was designed to provide microscopic wear protection.

Microscopic wear protection, also known as micro pitting protection, is critical in preventing destructive wear at the micro level, therefore, extending gear life and meeting the evolving demands of smaller and higher output gearboxes.

  • Extreme Pressure (EP) performance protects gears against wear and shock-loading as measured by FZG performance and demonstrated extensively in the field.
  • Alpha SP ‘Clean gear’ additive technology provides low deposit formation.
  • Good water separation and demulsification.
  • High protection against corrosion and wear.

  • The Alpha™ SP range is recommended for the lubrication of industrial gear boxes using forced circulation or splash and oil bath lubrication.
  • They may be used for the lubrication of spur and helical gears and in some lightly loaded worm-type gear applications.
  • They have very good viscosity characteristics to ensure starting torques are not excessively high in cold operating conditions.
  • The additives are compatible with the ferrous and non-ferrous metals used in industrial gear units.
  • The Alpha™ SP range is compatible with the most common types of seal materials.

Product Performance Claims:

  • Specific grades within the Alpha SP range meet the requirements of:

Castrol Hyspin AWS Range

Anti-wear hydraulic oil

Castrol Hyspin™ AWS hydraulic oil range is based upon highly refined mineral oil enhanced with a stabilised zinc additive system.

  • Hyspin AWS has the following advantages when compared to conventional hydraulic oils:
    • Good thermal and oxidative stability. Oxidative stability reduces deposit formation, resulting in a cleaner system.
    • This can extend the machinery’s operating life.
    • Excellent anti-wear performance increases wear protection, which can help reduce downtime caused by unscheduled maintenance.
    • Good filterability characteristics, including in the presence of water, enables cost savings to be made from increased filter life and reduced maintenance.
