Lynk & Co, a global mobility brand formed as a joint venture between Geely Holding, Geely Auto Group and Volvo Car Group, has entered into a five-year agreement with Castrol for the supply of premium lubricants in all of the markets in which it operates across Europe.

Castrol EDGE Professional V 0W-20 lubricant will be used during regular servicing and maintenance work on Lynk & Co vehicles, helping to unlock engine performance and enhance efficiency and durability.

Lynk & Co offers membership-based mobility for its first wave of markets in Europe, which include Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The Castrol EDGE Professional product to be used by Lynk & Co is the brand’s strongest, most advanced engine oil. It features Fluid TITANIUM technology that physically transforms its structure, becoming stiffer at points of extreme pressure to keep metal apart and reduce friction. When the pressure subsides, the oil reverts to its more free-flowing state.

Lynk & Co’s debut vehicle, the 01 SUV, is powered by a choice of economical Hybrid electric (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. The Castrol EDGE Professional products to be used by Lynk & Co were the first lubricants in the world to be certified as carbon neutral* in accordance with the PAS2060 international standard.

Castrol recently launched its own sustainability strategy, Castrol’s PATH360 which aims to help deliver a more sustainable future. To help reduce life-cycle carbon, Castrol is working with its suppliers to source lower carbon raw materials, reducing packaging, and is working with its partners to influence what happens to products after customer use.

Castrol’s lubricant supply agreement includes the option to support Lynk & Co’s market expansion plans over coming years.

Notes to editors

 * For a product to be considered carbon neutral, its cradle to grave greenhouse gas emissions must be quantified and compensated for through a combination of emissions reduction activities and carbon offsets.

Castrol’s carbon neutral products follow a robust process where external independent third parties are used to measure the cradle-to-grave emissions using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and assure as certified carbon neutral in accordance with the PAS 2060 specification. In 2014, Castrol launched the world’s first carbon neutral engine oil, Castrol PROFESSIONAL, and since then has offset 3.3million tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent emissions), through this and other products and services.

In 2021, Castrol expects to offset 1.3 million tonnes of CO2e through high quality bp Target Neutral programmes. See www.castrol.com/cneutral for more details
