    The Challenge

    A leading commercial vehicle component manufacturer has been using Castrol Ilocut 1945 for gear hobbing applications. The manufacturer sought to enhance the existing tool life and surface finishing. Metallurgy SAE 4140 is machined using Carbide Hobb in Suraksha CNC, where the average cost of the cutter is Rs. 53,000 to deliver a robust surface. However, the tool was required to change after machining 1500 components. Furthermore, the manufacturer achieved an rA value of 0.8 up to 400 components, after which it kept increasing up to 1500 components only. After that, the tool was changed
