Marco Hahn is the manager of Spedition Hahn und Reher GmbH & Co. KG, a transport company which comprises 10 silo trucks transporting construction materials, and 33 tractor units used for long distance transport. Mr. Hahn has always been looking for ways to reduce his operating costs whilst continuing to offer a competitive and reliable transport service to his customers. With this in mind he accepted Castrol’s proposal to trial Castrol Vecton Fuel Saver 5W-30 E7 in part of his truck fleet.
‘‘Keeping costs down is critical for my business. I want to stay competitive and that’s why I always look for new and technologically advanced solutions that can reduce my operating costs.

When Castrol approached me to trial Castrol Vecton Fuel Saver in some of my trucks and measure its fuel economy performance, I accepted. I wanted to go ahead with this trial because fuel expenses are about 30% to 35% of my turnover and hence, have significant impact on my profits.

We tested Castrol Vecton Fuel Saver 5W-30 E7 in four MAN Euro V trucks¹, using very accurate equipment and having the results independently validated. A fuel economy of 0.64% on average, compared to Castrol Vecton 15W-40 CJ-4², was measured with the equipment.

Each of those trucks consumes approximately 42,000 litres per year, covering an average annual mileage of 150,000 km. And with an average price of €89.25 per 100 litres, I pay around €37,500 per truck on an annual basis. Obviously, if I had used Castrol Vecton Fuel Saver 5W-30 E7 all year round, I would have a potential saving of €240 per truck or €960 in total for the four trucks that were tested. Not bad at all for my business!’’
