Land Rover BAR, working alongside its exclusive sustainability partner 11th Hour Racing, is committed to becoming the most sustainable sports team in the UK. Land Rover BAR is delighted that Castrol will now supply the team with its environmentally responsible Castrol hydraulic fluid technology.
Castrol will provide ongoing technical support and development to drive performance and efficiency improvements through its advanced range of high performance environmental products.
Castrol will also become a partner of the Land Rover BAR Academy. The Academy is a new initiative to find and support talented young British sailors, and create a pathway into the America’s Cup and wider professional sailing. The immediate goal is to select a British team to compete in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup (RBYAC) in 2017.
The partnership with Castrol brings a fantastic opportunity for Land Rover BAR to take positive steps to move towards carbon neutrality for the Academy. As part of Castrol’s support for the Academy, they will offset the carbon impact of the team through renewable energy projects, which will be selected from the countries that the team will compete in.
Castrol already has a strategic partnership with Land Rover, the team’s Title and Exclusive Innovation Partner. The two companies have worked in close cooperation for over 20 years. Castrol lubricants are jointly designed, developed and tested on prototype Land Rover engines and transmissions, working to enhance fuel economy, reduce CO2 emissions and improve engine performance.
Ramchander A.S, Vice President Marketing, Castrol commented “The America’s Cup is all about performance and we are delighted to be partnering with the Land Rover BAR team, both for the America’s Cup and the Land Rover BAR Academy, to support their winning goals and help to find the next generation of sailors.”
