Lubrication equipment manufacturers have been providing fluid inventory control products for decades to prevent oil shrinkage and/or theft. Earlier versions consisted of hundreds of feet of wiring to numerous solenoids and pulse meters throughout the service shop, controlled by a console typically located at a parts counter.
Although these types of systems provided fluid control, they provided little in regards to usage data and reporting. Over the years, these systems have advanced to computer-based products, reducing the amount of individual components and wiring, while expanding reporting capabilities.
Today, most new fluid inventory control systems are computer-based with options for tank-level monitoring and customized reporting. However, with constant changes in network security, these computer-based products can be troublesome to keep online and can often be shut down by a new firewall.
To address this issue, Graco has introduced its latest control product, offering total fluid management. The Graco Pulse is a stand-alone system that is controlled and managed through a network “hub” that contains its own software and communicates through the shop’s existing network for online access.
The person managing the Pulse system will utilize a distinct webpage for controlling and monitoring oil products, as well as coolant products. The system is customized during installation to fit the shop’s needs to assign work orders, track fluid usage, track employee usage, track vehicle service data, check fluid levels in tanks, and numerous other features.
Since the Pulse system operates separate from any network computer, firewalls are no longer an issue. The system is completely wireless and communicates through its own high-frequency network. As with any Graco product, excellent tech support is available to support the system if any issues occur.
