Transferring lubricants from bulk storage tanks to the equipment needing lubrication is often overlooked when managers are attempting to improve work area safety and efficiency. An employee carrying pails of lubricants through a work area could be your next work-related accident. It also takes extra time for the employee to transfer lubricants into pails and then transfer the lubricants into the equipment that they’re servicing.
There are options to make this task much safer for your employees. The utilization of custom mobile lubrication carts for transferring lubricants from bulk storage tanks to equipment is an option to eliminate hazards and improve efficiency.
Lubrication carts can be constructed to meet individual requirements for capacity, dimensions, pump systems, and hose reels (which would also require a wheel brake). Lubrication carts can also be designed to house multiple lubricants and chemicals.
A lubrication cart allows your employees to fill it at the bulk storage tank where it can then be safely moved to the equipment to be serviced. Once at the equipment, employees can safely dispense the lubricant into the equipment in a clean manner, without needing to pour from a pail. This also improves efficiency, as the amount of time spent traveling between bulk storage tanks and equipment is reduced due to the lube cart having much more fluid capacity.
For smaller applications where air is not available to run pneumatic pumps, pressurized oil dispensers can be an option. Employees are able to fill the dispenser at the bulk tank and then charge it with air. Once the dispenser is pressurized, it can be transported to the equipment and the lubricant can be transferred cleanly without the need for compressed air.
