As the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) touches every corner of the globe, we are working across bp (Castrol® has been part of bp since 2000) in response to the unprecedented circumstances that our people, customers, and communities now face.
bp is focused on supporting the call of governments to limit the spread of COVID-19, while ensuring that the supplies of energy, fuel, and vital petrochemical feedstocks are uninterrupted.
Our priority will always remain the safety and health of our people. As an example, all employees who can are now working from home for the foreseeable future.
Our people involved in or supporting critical operations continue at their normal workplace and we have processes in place to help protect them. That includes operating robust protocols for health and pre-mobilization checks, travel and workplace access, social distancing and isolation.
The safety of customers is equally our priority. We are supporting all our customers by sending out videos to explain we are here for them and that we will help them through this time.
We’re also working closely with our many customers that have been designated essential service or product suppliers to ensure they have the Castrol products and services they need to keep their business operating.
We’re following the advice of relevant national health authorities in every country where we operate. We’re increasing our cleaning procedures and encouraging our customers to practice ‘social distancing’ in our stores. Please click below for the latest CDC guidance on cleaning and disinfecting.
All of us are impacted by the global spread of COVID-19 in some way. bp stands ready to help the communities where our people live and our businesses operate. We’re offering support to governments and partners and we are willing to learn where we can do more.
The bp Foundation donated $2 million USD to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which supports medical professionals and patients worldwide by providing critical aid and supplies. The Solidarity Response Fund also helps track and understand the spread of the COVID-19 virus and supports efforts to develop tests, treatments and, ultimately, a vaccine.
bp is donating its significant supercomputing capability to help halt the spread of COVID-19. Working with the U.S. government, leading universities, and major tech firms like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, our Center for High-Performance Computing in Houston will be used by scientists to develop answers to complex scientific questions about COVID-19 in hours or days versus weeks or months.
Castrol’s Stay in. Go all Out. social media campaign features light-hearted and positive social content to interact, engage, and give ideas during the “stay at home” period.
Similarly, Castrol’s global Hang up your Keys campaign is focused on keeping consumers connected with their automotive passions… especially during this time when they may not be able to get behind the wheel or watch their favorite motorsport.
