Castrol Honda - World Touring Car Championship

The Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team will compete against 8 top-draw teams in the 2014 FIA WTCC series. Honda, winners of the manufacturers’ title in 2013, will face even tougher competition in 2014, but they expect that the greater technical freedom allowed under the new rules, will sit well with their renowned engineering creativity. With racing taking place all over the world in varying conditions, the championship provides another important test for Castrol.


For the 2014 WTCC season, Castrol Honda has retained its 2013 drivers. Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro are two of the world’s most successful and experienced World Touring Car racers. 
Gabriele finished runner-up in the Drivers’ Championship in 2013 and won plenty of races during Honda’s impressive debut season. His points were invaluable in Honda’s Manufacturers’ title victory. 

Tiago enjoyed a strong debut for the Castrol Honda squad in 2013. He proved his speed when he clinched victory in the penultimate round in China. He went on to finish eighth out of the season’s total driver field of 45


With revised regulations  to make the on-track racing even faster and more spectacular, Honda’s legendary Civic has received a serious makeover. Not only has power been increased, but the car also features extended wheel arches, larger diameter wheels, a sleeker aero package and an extended rear spoiler

After Formula 1 and the WRC, the World Touring Car Championship is the 3rd racing series created by the FIA. The cars are based on production four-door, two wheel drive saloons which have a 1.6 litre turbo-charged engine and are modified for racing. The races offer the rare occasion of seeing suped-up  road cars clash on the racetrack in exciting battles.
