When we think about motorbikes and motorbike maintenance we automatically think about engines and brakes and the fluids that keep them performing. The chances are that we might not even have heard of motorcycle fork oil and yet it plays a crucial role in delivering a comfortable ride.

WHAT ARE MOTORCYCLE FORKS?

Motorcycle forks are the front two shock absorbers of a motorbike beyond the pistons and springs. They absorb the front end load of a bike as it encounters an uneven terrain.

WHAT IS FORK OIL?

The front forks of a bike are filled with fork oil to absorb the shock of riding over uneven surfaces.

WHY CHANGE FORK OIL?

Bike fork oil is protected from outside factors and contaminants by sitting within an enclosed chamber so fork oil can go for a long time without needing to be changed.

If you feel that your shock absorber performance is deteriorating or that they are becoming squeaky, it is time to change your fork oil. This is something best carried out by an expert.
