Castrol and CWM LCR Honda – Peak Performance at the Pinnacle of Motorcycle Racing

The MotoGP World Championship is the undisputed pinnacle of motor racing on two wheels. The 2015 season will once again see riders and bikes put to the test at 18 races around the world. A key factor in the battle for every hundredth of a second is engine oil. CWM LCR Honda is leaving nothing to chance and is putting its faith in Castrol Power1 as its chosen lubricant. As such, experienced British rider Cal Crutchlow and Australian rookie Jack Miller will be able to call upon the highest possible performance from their bikes.
For the last three years, the technical regulations in MotoGP have stipulated that the works bikes in the elite class must be powered by four-stroke engines (with either two or four cylinders) with a capacity of 1,000cc.

With this in mind, the first thing to take into consideration when discussing engine oil is the fact that with motorcycles, unlike cars, the gearbox is part of the engine. As such, there is only one oil-circulation system.
As well as the high engine speeds (the regulations specify a maximum 18,000 revs per minute), another particular challenge facing lubricant manufacturers like Castrol on the MotoGP stage is how to develop an engine oil modified with additives. These additives are necessary in order to prevent the film of oil inside the engine from being disturbed by the rubbing together of the gears in the gearbox.

The superior acceleration provided by Castrol Power1 will give our talented riders Cal and Jack the confidence to take on circuits around the world with maximum confidence in their oil.

Developed on the racetrack, this high-performance engine oil benefits not only riders Cal Crutchlow on the Honda RC213V and Jack Miller on the Honda RC213V-RS, but also motorcyclists on the streets. Tests have shown that Castrol Power1 Racing 4T, which has been developed specifically for four-stroke engines, guarantees superior acceleration and performance as soon as the rider turns the accelerator throttle.

“At Castrol we’re really looking forward to this season with our new partner CWM LCR Honda”, says Castrol’s Global Sponsorship Manager Donald Smith.

“There are new world class manufacturers joining the MotoGP field for the 2015 season, but Honda is reigning World Champion in MotoGP and we can’t wait to show the extraordinary acceleration and performance achievable with Castrol Power1 in the pinnacle of two wheel motor racing.”
CWM LCR Honda Team Principal Lucio Cecchinello and his team have chosen Castrol’s premium motorbike oil: Castrol Power1.

“The whole team at CWM LCR Honda is proud to have a new partnership with Castrol and looks forward to an exciting season in the MotoGP powered by Castrol Power1,“ Cecchinello says. “The superior acceleration provided by Castrol Power1 will give our talented riders Cal and Jack the confidence to take on circuits around the world with maximum confidence in their oil.“
