2019 sees Castrol EDGE join forces with Australia’s premier motoring publication MOTOR, as the Official Oil of MOTOR Performance Car of the Year (PCOTY).
Castrol EDGE has long been the choice for drivers and manufacturers looking to unlock exhilarating performance from their vehicles, so with PCOTY pitting 11 of the world’s best performance cars against one another, the fit was a perfect one.
“When it comes to engine oil, Castrol EDGE is a product that we know is able to perform under exactly the sort of pressure we put our cars under in MOTOR PCOTY testing,” explained MOTOR editor Dylan Campbell.

The field of MOTOR PCOTY finalists has always represented a broad cross-section of performance vehicles and in 2019 the story is no different. A diverse range of manufacturers are represented on the final short-list including Alpine, Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Porsche, Mercedes Benz and Renault, with vehicles ranging from a $649,000 supercar, all the way through to a $39,990 hot hatch.
“As is always the case, all the amazing vehicles short-listed for MOTOR PCOTY are cars you’d love to get behind the wheel of. We’re thrilled to be a part of it,” adds Castrol Marketing Director, Ben Rose.
Indeed, the formulations developed off the back of co-engineering and joint research and development with Audi – like Castrol EDGE 5W-30 LL - are tailor-made for the latest Audi engines and specifically developed to meet Audi’s unique technology requirements.
With the 2019 judging taking place at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia – a new addition to the Supercars calendar – it was only fitting that Castrol Racing’s own Rick Kelly joined the MOTOR PCOTY judging panel. As a multiple Bathurst winner, and Supercar driver, few are better qualified to push these machines to their limits.
“Honestly, to get to spend a few days putting these cars through their paces is hard to beat,” admitted Rick. Equally happy getting his hands dirty under the bonnet as he is behind the wheel, Rick knows all too well the vital role engine oil plays.

Dylan Campbell was succinct in summarising why it ultimately made sense to align with Castrol EDGE in 2019 - “Castrol EDGE allows vehicles to unlock their true performance, and in the same manner, MOTOR PCOTY is about finding a vehicle that doesn’t compromise in any way”.
