Castrol Racing Unveiled

Castrol has fired into the 2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship with an exciting new naming rights partnership with Nissan Motorsport.

Launched today, a striking green, red and white Castrol livery has been unveiled for Rick Kelly’s #15 Castrol Racing Nissan Altima.

The expansion of the partnership with Nissan Motorsport will see Castrol further enhance its global presence in the world of motorsport alongside their partnership with the Renault Formula One Team.

Kelly is one of the most credentialed drivers in the Supercars Championship, claiming the 2006 Supercars Championship, two Bathurst 1000 wins in 2003 and 2004, as well as being a long-time ambassador for Castrol product on and off the track.

With more Bathurst 1000 wins to their name than any other oil manufacturer, Castrol Australia’s Marketing Director, Ben Rose, believes the expanded partnership with Nissan Motorsport will provide even more success in Australia’s highest profile motorsport category.

“The opportunity to kick things up a gear with Nissan Motorsport is one that we couldn’t be more excited about. Motorsport has always been a part of Castrol’s DNA, and the presence of Castrol Racing on the track this year is something we know that Supercar fans across Australia are going to love,” said Rose.

“The extreme demands of Supercars make them the perfect proving ground for our products. This deeper partnership with Nissan Motorsport will allow us to bring the same technology we use with race teams to customers and consumers in ways that have never before been possible.”

As part of the expanded partnership, the #15 Castrol Racing Nissan Altima will be lubricated with Castrol EDGE, boosted with Fluid Titanium. Castrol EDGE is Castrol’s most advanced range of engine oils and proven to minimize friction, reduce metal-to-metal contact, and sustain oil film strength to maximize vehicle performance. Developed to deliver the highest performance, the same lubricant technology that will underpin the #15 Castrol Racing Nissan Altima is the same technology available to fans when they buy Castrol EDGE.

For Kelly, having the support of the famous green, red and white Castrol colours for his 2018 campaign is a motivating factor as he heads into his 17th year as a full-time Supercars driver.

“I couldn’t be more excited to represent Team Castrol in 2018,” said Kelly.

“Those Castrol colours are pretty revered in Australian Motorsport, so it’s definitely special to represent them.”

“Castrol has flowed through my life for decades. They were the lubricants in our farming machinery in Mildura, on the bobcats I worked on in my teens, all the way through to my Bathurst victories in 2003-2004. Castrol as a brand has supported Todd and I since the start of Kelly Racing in 2009 and have been a great partner of the team since then.”

The team has worked closely with Castrol in that time to develop high performance products specially designed for the pressures of Supercars racing.

“Castrol’s commitment to innovation gives us the confidence that we can perform at the top of Australian Motorsport. As a team we’ve seen that over the last 10 years.”

“I want to express how excited I am to work with such a fantastic global brand, but also a great local team. A team that has been committed to Australian Motorsport for many years. It gives me confidence rolling out at Adelaide with Castrol on the car and it is also a responsibility to ensure we get them to the front.”

Kelly will take to the circuit aboard his Castrol EDGE Nissan Altima for the first time this Friday when the 2018 Supercars Championship kicks off in Adelaide.
