Volkswagen World Rally Champions 2013

Volkswagen’s Castrol EDGE-lubricated Polo R WRC stormed to the 2013 World Rally Championship Drivers’ title in an incredibly successful debut season. The World Rally programme follows record-breaking success in the Dakar Rally, the gruelling 9,600km race. In four years, the Castrol-lubricated, diesel-engined
Touareg off-roader had no technical-related breakdowns, helping the team storm to a trio of benchmark-setting victories in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

In the 2013 WRC, Castrol and Volkswagen showed they could push the boundaries of performance to win in any environment. WRC is the perfect test of strength for Castrol EDGE. So it’s not surprising that Volkswagen recommends Castrol EDGE for its road cars, too.

ONLY THE STRONG CAN WIN

After 12 rallies, 231 stages and 4,546km, only one car was victorious – Volkswagen’s Castrol EDGE-lubricated Polo R WRC.

ABOUT WRC

The World Rally Championship is a thrilling, globe-trotting tour featuring some of the toughest events in the world. Drivers race the terrain and the clock, tackling a series of point-to-point stages over three or four days with the aim of completing each stage in the fastest time. The rally cars are based on road-going cars, but have race-tuned 1.6-litre turbo engines that develop 300bhp. Maximum performance is required, and that’s where Castrol EDGE delivers every time.
