The Castrol Alphasyn EP gear oil range of high quality synthetic lubricants are based on polyalpha-olefin (PAO) fluids and Extreme Pressure (EP) additive technology providing outstanding thermal stability and high load carrying capacity. Formulated for use in all types of enclosed gears including heavy loaded / shock loaded gears and bearings exposed to extreme environments where EP properties are required.
The Castrol Alphasyn T range of high performance synthetic lubricants is based on polyalpha-olefin (PAO) fluids and antiwear additive technology providing outstanding thermal stability and good load carrying capacity. It is designed for use in bearings, circulatory systems and moderately-loaded slow moving gear systems operating at variable temperatures both high and low. Alphasyn T should not be used for heavy / shock loaded systems.
The carefully selected base oils of Castrol BioTrans gear oils provide high levels of biodegradability in the marine environment, minimising the persistence of the product in the sea. Castrol BioTrans is miscible with conventional mineral oil-based gear oils. When changing from mineral oil based products to Castrol BioTrans, the system should be drained to ensure that the mineral oil content of the refilled system is less than 5%. This is necessary to ensure that the maximum environmental benefit is achieved.
Castrol’s Hyspin VG range of hydraulic oils is based on highly refined mineral oil enhanced with rust and oxidation inhibitors, also referred to as R&O hydraulic oils. The Castrol Hyspin VG range is designed for use in hydraulic systems that do not require anti-wear performance but where rust and oxidation resistance is desirable. This range is also suitable for pumps with silver-plated components.
The Castrol Hyspin AWS hydraulic oil range is based upon highly refined mineral oil enhanced with stabilised zinc containing anti-wear system. Castrol Hyspin AWS has excellent hydrolytic and oxidative stability while exhibiting a minimal tendency to produce sludge and deposits and provides corrosion protection to ferrous and yellow metal components found within a hydraulic system. High viscosity hydraulic oil is suitable for use in spur, bevel or worm gearboxes operating at high speeds with light loads.
Castrol Cresta pure mineral oils are designed for steam engine cylinder and valve lubrication and are suitable for heavily loaded slow moving bearings and gears, where a demulsifiable oil is required. Castrol Cresta compounded oils have been designed for the lubrication of steam engine cylinders where condensed water from wet steam may be present.
Cresta SHS is formulated from selected base cylinder stocks to achieve the desirable characteristics of high flash point and oxidation stability. It possesses good demulsibility, which means for the lubrication of the cylinders of high speed, totally enclosed steam engines, it does not materially reduce the demulsibility of the crankcase oil.
The Alpha SP gear oil range of high quality mineral lubricants enhanced with extreme pressure additive technology, providing outstanding thermal stability and high load carrying capacity by preventing scuffing in heavily loaded applications. The range is particularly suitable for use in spur or worm gearboxes having either oil bath or forced circulation lubrication. Can also be used in bevel, spiral and planetary gearboxes, pump bearings and crankcases for high pressure mud or cement pumps.
