CHRIS HOLLINGWORTH SS CHEVELLE

No stranger to performance engines, Queensland based engine builder, Chris "Holley" Hollingworth made his name in the industry out on the drag strip. Back in the 90s Chris used to run Australia’s fastest street car. His latest personal project is a 1966 SS Chevelle with a 540 cubic inch big block twin turbo fuel-injected Chevy engine. It makes a whopping 1500 HP! He says he’s been asked many times whether he uses a special additive in his oil to mae that much power. "No" he says, "It’s just Castrol EDGE straight out of the bottle."

This is Troy Swift from Queensland and his deceptively quick 1984 Holden VK Commodore. This wolf in sheep’s clothing of a car hides a 6 litre cast iron 408 cubic inch turbo LSX engine that makes 920 horsepower on 20lbs of boost. Despite being HIGHLY modified he says it’s "problem-free". Meanwhile, bashful Troy says he’s not really into drawing too much attention!

STEVE HAY HOLDEN HQ MONARO

Meet Steve Hay and his 1972 Holden HQ Monaro with Chevy twin turbo LS3 Commodore engine. After racing it for a number of years he turned it into a show car and it’s now a street car. “The power it’s producing at the moment is more than enough for street duties but when I take it to the track I like to have a little bit more horsepower”. To make sure his car stands up to the demands of both race and street conditions Steve says he uses Castrol EDGE because he uses it in his circuit race car and his chosen workshop recommends it.

This is plumber/builder and circuit car racer, Dan North and his mean looking 2007 XR6 circuit car. This ex-street car has evolved into a circuit car. Having been entirely built from the ground up, Northy says it’s easier to say what’s not done. Only the doors and roof are original. Everything else is what Dan calls "full supercar" with "all the good stuff", which naturally includes one essential ingredient… Castrol EDGE. No wonder he’s smiling.

Check out Brad Weir's 2011 Ford FG XR6 Turbo. Street standard with a few enhancements, this gutsy 6-cylinder still makes 500+ rear wheel horsepower. Ex-motorcross racer, Brad switched to a drift car after having an accident at the age of 17, before falling in love with his Turbo Ute. He says he loves the boost he gets from the turbo and that his XR6 is “a lot of fun”. We bet it is.
