Refrigeration compressors are used extensively in the offshore industry. Typical equipment packages include Process cooling, HVAC and Food preservation.
Refrigeration compressor lubricants have evolved to suit the changing refrigerant fluid design driven by legislation. The most common refrigerants are Hydroflurocarbons which can be served well with our Polyolester range however there are many other refrigerants still in use. Care must be taken when recommending these lubricants to ensure compatibility with the refrigerant.
AIRCOL 266 & 299
The Aircol 266 & 299 range of mineral based refrigeration oils is available as two grades of specially selected oils, highly refined, to provide chemical and thermal stability. For use in refrigeration and air conditioning plants using fluorocarbon refrigerants. The exceptional low temperature characteristics of these oils prevent the flocculent precipitation of wax which can otherwise occur in high performance plant using Freon refrigerants.
AIRCOL 2284 & 2285
The Castrol Aircol 228 range of refrigeration oils are formulated from selected alkyl-benzene base stocks. Suitable for use in R22 refrigeration systems with very low evaporator temperatures where Alkyl-benzene based lubricants are recommended by the manufacturer. These products may not be suitable for use in refrigeration systems employing screw compressors due to the high level of solubility of refrigerant in the lubricant, which may reduce its viscosity to unacceptable levels.
AIRCOL 2294 & 2295
The Castrol Aircol 229 range of synthetic refrigeration oils are formulated from selected polyalphaolefin base fluids. They are specifically designed for refrigeration systems using screw type compressors in conjunction with very low evaporation temperatures. They may also be specified for certain systems using reciprocating compressors with high compression ratios and high discharge temperatures.
AIRCOL SW RANGE
The Castrol Aircol SW is a range of most common synthetic refrigeration lubricants that are formulated from polyolester base stocks. They are specifically designed for use with refrigeration systems using environmentally friendly HFC refrigerants. Always check your equipment manual and consult with a Castrol Technical Service Engineer to choose the right product for the right application.
