So that we continue to develop high-performance, technologically-advanced motor oils and lubricants, we carry out our research and product development in our own laboratories around the world.

Global Centres of Technical Excellence

Our global headquarters for R&D, which also co-ordinates the work carried out in our Technical Centres of Excellence across the globe, including the USA, Germany and India, is located in Pangbourne, UK. As you would expect, in keeping with our partnership approach to working, our research facilities liaise closely with leading manufacturers, scientific and technical centres and universities.

Our focus on technology has delivered industry-leading products such as Castrol Magnatec - one of the best engine-wear lubricants in the world - as well as best-in-class fuel economy products for diesel trucks, such as Castrol Elixion - the only 'heavy duty' lubricant to guarantee the customer 4% fuel savings - and unrivalled motorcycle products. Such innovative technology also enables us to make outstanding, world-class product offers to major OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) such as BMW and Volkswagen.

In addition to research and development in automotive engine lubricants, we also devote high-level resources to the development of products for other vital areas such as driveline applications, marine transport and the industrial sector.
