Volkswagen and Castrol have enjoyed an incredible year after clinching the World Rally Championship Drivers’ title in their debut season – an impressive achievement in a gruelling championship that pushes cars and drivers to the limit.
The success story began with the legendary Monte Carlo Rally, where driver Sébastien Ogier fought to a second-place finish in the team's first ever rally.
Amazingly, Ogier won the following three events in his Volkswagen Polo R WRC - sliding through the ice and snow of Rally Sweden, and keeping his focus in the thin air and high altitudes of Rally Mexico. Victory in Portugal completed his hat-trick of victories and granted the Frenchman a championship lead he'd never lose.
The team continued to rack-up wins in extreme temperatures, altitudes and terrains to prove categorically that Castrol EDGE and Volkswagen had the strength to perform.
Ogier sealed the prestigious title of World Rally Driver Champion in France, his home rally at the start of October with 2 rallies to spare.
