One Lucky Grand Prize Winner will receive a $50,000 External, Internal and Communications Truck Renovation
Wayne, NJ – May 2, 2006 – BP Lubricants USA Inc. announced today its plans to launch the second annual Castrol® Tection™ Extra Big Honkin' Truck Makeover™ contest on August 1, 2006. Truck drivers nationwide will be given another chance to win a total internal, external and communications makeover valued at $50,000 for a vehicle weighing more than 10,000 pounds (Class 3–8).From August 1, 2006 through October 31, 2006 eligible participants with ailing vehicles are encouraged to go to www.castrol.com/truckmakeover to learn more about the Big Honkin' Truck Makeover contest and how to enter. Entrants will be required to submit a vehicle photo and 50 word essay describing why he or she deserves the coveted grand prize.
"We are searching the nation for the driver who is most deserving of the Big Honkin' Truck Makeover, someone who lives for being on the road and wants to drive in style," said Julie Kim, Associate Brand Manager. The first Castrol Tection Extra Big Honkin Makeover contest was launched in 2005. Jeff Fields, an owner–operator from Tully NY, was selected as the grand prize winner in August 2005 at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. Fields' 1979 Peterbilt truck received a complete makeover package customized by the infamous "Chrome Shop Mafia," the big rig truck mechanics and stars of the Country Music Television (CMT) series "Trick My Truck."
Contest entries will be judged on originality, creativity, relevance of essay to theme and photographic appeal. Three finalists will be selected by an independent panel of judges to advance into the final round. As an enhancement to the selection process, this year individuals nationwide will be able to vote online for their favorite finalist starting January 2007. Mid America Trucking Show attendees will also be able to vote for their favorite finalist on March 22 and 23 at the Castrol Tection Extra booth. The grand prize winner will be announced on the final day of the show.
