Social and Environmental Responsibility

Two men jumping on cliff
Social and environmental responsibility is a fundamental part of Castrol's corporate profile, investing in the community and the environment at every level
Castrol's corporate social investment policy is as follows:

Objectives

  • To earn and build our reputation as a responsible corporate citizen
  • To promote and help the company achieve its business objectives
  • To encourage and promote employee involvement in community upliftment
  • To contribute to social and economic development

Focus

  • Job creation
  • HIV/Aids
  • Road safety
  • Environment

Criteria and constraints

  • Castrol involvement in all projects.
  • Partnerships that benefit both the community and Castrol
  • Castrol employee involvement where relevant and appropriate
  • Fewer, larger projects with high community impact
  • Project alignment with the focus areas
  • Economically sustainable projects with multiple benefits
  • An emphasis on people rather than things
Castrol does not support political organizations, religious and sectarian causes, commercial fund-raising agencies, bursaries, individuals, bricks and mortar projects, salaries, rents, accommodation, travel expenses or conferences. Much of Castrol's involvement and work is related to the objectives of our business and will be carried out in those areas where Castrol is most active and has a significant presence.
