Prince Michael of Kent visits WIAA – in his racing Bentley of 1920’s along with 10 other racing Bentleys

It is indeed a visit of grandiose. His Royal Highness, Prince Michael of Kent visited WIAA – Castrol Institute of Motoring in Ahmedabad in his Bentley of 1920’s at 9:00 am and interacted with the students of the institute. He spoke about his passion for specialist cars, Bentley Drivers Club and importance of road safety. He also took a walk around the institute and was overwhelmed with Castrol’s initiative to set up an institute on Motoring.
Speaking on Prince Michael’s visit, Nitin Dossa, President, WIAA – Castrol Institute of Motoring said, “It’s a great pleasure to have His Royal Highness, Prince Michael of Kent in WIAA, and to know his passion for Motoring. It feels great to know that someone as Majestic as Prince Michael gives utmost importance to Road Safety and has taken efforts to visit WIAA to share his views and knowledge with the students of the institute”

WIAA in collaboration with Ahmedabad Education Society and Castrol India Ltd. has set-up the WIAA-Castrol Institute of Motoring at Ahmedabad. The institute trained more than 5000 drivers last year mainly from the Truck & Bus category, including Gujrat State Transport & Ahmedabad Municipal Drivers also oil companies. It is recognized by the Surface Transport Ministry to train the drivers and receives grants every year.

The Institute's main objective is "Human Safety on Roads". Their service includes in-depth education and training to different classes of road and vehicle users, and incorporates a range of technical services to ensure safety and economy in handling of a vehicle. A provision has also been made to undertake research activities to promote safety.

It is the first ever time, when HRH, Prince Michael of Kent, who is also known for his campaign in Road Safety, would get on the roads of Ahmedabad roaring on his 1920’s racing Bentley along with 10 other racing Bentleys. The reason for His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent to India is to participate in the ongoing Bentley rally for Children’s Charity. The brief visit to WIAA – Castrol Institute of Motoring was a part of his ongoing journey from New Delhi to Mumbai via Ahmedabad

Prince Michael would visit Mumbai on 23rd January, 2009 and would felicitate Castrol on behalf of WIAA for outstanding efforts and commitments towards the cause of Road Safety.
